Into the Depths of Fungi

The experiential exhibition “Into the Depths of Fungi” represents one of the main milestones of the SAMOROST project, which researches and develops mycelium-based materials and seeks all the possibilities of their use in sustainable construction. At the heart of the exhibition is a cross-section of the SAMOROST house, which gives you an insight into the “guts” on the building technology. The myco-composite in the house serves as a thermal insulator and also beautifies the interior in the form of cladding.

Interior of the Samorost house

We present you the unique interior of Samorost, the first house made of mycocomposite in the Czech Republic. Take a look at the modern kitchen, elegant bathroom and cosy bedroom, where sustainability and design are combined. Mycelium brings not only eco-friendly solutions, but also sustainable and harmonious living. Are you ready to discover a new world of architecture?

Mycocomposite production and properties

Researchers in the Samorost project have confirmed its properties in tests for burning, pressure, tensile and flakiness. They also showed the potential of using mycocomposite to build a house.

Experiential exhibition within Designblok

Designblok is the largest, most important and most visited contemporary design show in the Czech Republic and Central Europe. And it is here that in October 2023 we brought Samorost closer to the public than ever before. We opened the exhibition itself with an opening, which was not only for journalists, but also for the general public.
